Wahid Foundation Involves Village Women Communities in Formulating Guidelines for Peaceful Village Action Plans

Since 2017, Wahid Foundation in collaboration with UN Women has initiated the Women Participation for Inclusive Society (WISE) program in three provinces: West Java (Bogor and Depok), Central Java (Solo Raya) and East Java (Malang Raya and Sumenep). This program targets women's groups at the grassroots to be actively involved in efforts to strengthen social cohesion in the community, especially the active role in villages / kelurahan. These women's groups are working with the village government to form Damai Villages / Kelurahan, currently there are 10 villages / wards that are working areas for program implementation, including Sidomulyo Village, Batu City, Candirenggo Village, Malang Regency, Guluk-guluk Village, Prancak, Payudan Dundang in Sumenep, Pengasinan Village in Depok City and Tajurhalang Village in Bogor Regency, West Java. The 10 villages have declared Damai Villages / Kelurahan and established Village Regulations (Perdes) for the Peace Village Working Group Team which consists of every element of society, including religious leaders, community leaders, youth and women.

This year, efforts to involve women in providing program proposals and policy-making at the village level must also be accommodated substantively through activity programs at the Village level, for this the Wahid Foundation has compiled a Guide to Peaceful Village Action Plans by involving cross sectors in government, "RADes is in addition to to accommodate the views of the community, especially women's groups, the preparation of a guideline document for the preparation of the Peaceful Village Action Plan will refer to several legal rules, policies and programs that have been established by the government. " Said Siti Kholisoh, Senior Advocacy and Campaigner of Wahid Foundation.

Currently this RADes guideline is in the process of drafting which will be tested in 10 Damai Villages, this multi-elemental involvement is accommodated in the Expert Consultation forum which was held in mid-September 2020, it is hoped that by the end of October the RADes will be completed so that it can be used in program implementation. activities in the village.

"We hope that the Village Action Plan will become a role model for a fair mechanism in the prevention of community-based social conflicts that uses a gender responsive approach to preventing violent extremism. In the end, it is hoped that this mechanism will suppress violence against women, discrimination and be able to improve access to justice for women in Indonesia. Public." He continued.
