Wahid Foundation Help Mitigating Covid-19 Aid at Rp 2,3 Billion to Peace Villages

TIMESINDONESIA, MALANG – Wahid Foundation delivers mitigation aid for Covid-19 again to several of the mentored villages that are included in the Peace Village Program, located in Malang and Batu.

Covid-19 Mitigation Aid was symbolically handed over by Yenny Wahid as Director of Wahid Foundation to representatives of Peace Working Group (Kelompok Kerja/Pokja Damai) Candirenggo and Gunungrejo of Malang and Gunungsari and Sidomulyo of Batu on Wednesday (1/9/2021) at Peace Village, Taraman, Sinduharjo, Sleman.

The aid that has been handed over by Wahid Foundation since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to Rp 2,3 billion.

The aid was delivered in the forms of basic needs packages, fruits, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), vitamins, medicines, isolation room equipments, and ambulances to several regions including a few villages mentored by Wahid Foundation in Malang and Batu.

Since the number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in Malang and Batu is still quite high, Wahid Foundation, supported by UN Women, initiated to provide Covid-19 mitigation aid to the affected communities in Malang and Batu.

The Covid-19 Mitigation Aid was handed over to representatives of Wahid Foundation Peace Working Group to make the Peace Working Group (Pokja Damai) to be actively involved in handling Covid-19.

“This pandemic has badly affected all sectors, so Wahid Foundation tries our best to encourage community to work together to help each other. The aid is mandated to the Peace Working Group to be fully utilized to handle Covid-19 in their villages,” said Yenny.

Other than that, according to Yenny, during the crisis caused by the pandemic, it is the village communities who can be trailblazers to quickly recover and contribute to build the nation. It is due to village communities who are known to have harmonious and communality life.

“In this kind of condition, the ones who have the strength to build the country are village communities,” Yenny added.

The Chief of Candirenggo Village’s LPMK, Roestamadji, expressing his gratitude to Wahid Foundation for providing ambulances for his village.

“We are very grateful for Wahid Foundation who have provided ambulances for our village. We really hope we could utilize these ambulances well to help people,” he said.

Next, mitigation aid will be delivered to people who are in isolation and are affected financially.

The previous week, Covid-19 mitigation aid was also handed over by Yenny Wahid to three Peace Villages mentored by Wahid Foundation in Klaten. Furthermore, aid was handed over to several villages mentored by Wahid Foundation in Sumenep, Depok, Bogor, Sukoharjo, and Solo.
