Wahid Foundation’s Community Training: Peacebuilding and Financial Management

After completing the "Peacebuilding and Financial Management" training session held at Oasis Amir Hotel, Jalan Senen Raya, Jakarta, local facilitators shared their knowledge gained in the training with the community.

This community training is taking place between mid-November and December 2018 in each Wahid Foundation assisted village in West Java, Central Java, and East Java. According to Nurul Munawaroh (39), the Regional Coordinator for Central Java, this community training is being carried out as a follow-up program to the local facilitator training session held at the beginning of November.

"This community training is conducted to broaden and share knowledge between facilitators and women’s groups. So, if the women’s groups do not understand well about a subject, they can ask for clarification," said Nurul.

Due to its technical nature, the common subject not fully comprehended by the community is financial management. This was acknowledged by Fransisca Andriyani (48), a local Wahid Foundation facilitator for Gemblegan Village, Klaten. "The most popular subject is conflict resolution and peacebuilding. The financial management course will be reviewed at regular meetings," Fransisca added.

In addition to sharing discussions about previous course subjects, community training is also a place to share experiences, and joy and sorrow. On the same occasion, Sri Mardani (27) a local facilitator from Nglinggi Village, Klaten, Central Java, shared the enthusiasm of her group.

There is an 80-year-old female noodle maker who, despite being older, still has the spirit of being independent. "The grandmother said that thanks to the money she borrowed at the Peace-loving Cooperative, she bought a noodle making machine and was able to produce more noodles. In the past, she could produce only 2-3 kilograms of noodles, now she makes 5-10 kilograms of noodles," explained Sri.
