Sidomulyo Village Government and Wahid Foundation Implement Peace

BATU, PETISI.CO - Sidomulyo Village Government (Pemdes), Batu District, Batu City, in collaboration with the Wahid Foundation (WF) held a Peace Village action event with the theme "Sidomulyo Sinau Sehat", which was held at the courtyard of the Freshwater Aquaculture Installation Center (PBAT) in Sidomulyo Village, Monday evening (9/21/2020).

The event was intended to commemorate the International Day of Peace on September 30; to gather stakeholders of Sidomulyo Village (village head, RT heads, RW heads, religious leaders, community leaders, and WF members); and to promote health awareness and COVID-19 health protocol compliance.

"Mother's role in the family is crucial, especially during a pandemic like now. One of the main roles is to supervise every family member’s activity so that the health of family members can be maintained," said Mayor of Batu, Dra. Hj. Dewanti Rumpoko, MSi.

Meanwhile, the Head of Sidomulyo Village, Drs. Suharto, M.M. added that during the pandemic Sidomulyo Village has been quite busy with visitors, who exercise business transactions for ornamental plants, vegetable and fruit seeds, as well as gardening tools. Therefore, they must comply with the COVID-19 Health Protocols.

"I am proud that Sidomulyo Village is one of the seven Peace Villages in Indonesia assisted by Wahid Foundation, I hope that in the future women’s economic empowerment will be one of the achievements and advancements of Sidomulyo Village," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Peace Village Working Group also expressed his hope that Sidomulyo Village can become a pilot project in Batu by empowering women economically to strengthen their capacity as agents of peace in the village. (Eka)
