Digital-Savvy Peace Village Woman

In order to increase the capacity to develop small businesses for the assisted women's groups, the Wahid Foundation conducts basic marketing and photography training through an ecommerce platform on Saturday and Sunday (February 2-3, 2019) at Mercure Surabaya Hotel. The speaker for this training was Abdul Mughits, an internet marketing consultant and trainer for UKM Go Online for MSME players.

The participants of the training consisted of fifteen youth camp alumni girls and six representatives of women's business groups from nine Peace Villages/Kelurahans accompanied by the Wahid Foundation representatives.

In addition, the training presented material on the values of peace, tolerance and gender equality delivered by Hafizen, the Wahid Foundation Capacity Building Senior Officer. "Gus Dur taught us to respect differences, because, in fact, we are all brothers and sisters, who are of different religions, beliefs, and ethnicities. It is funny if we expect that we are all the same because every time we leave the house, we certainly meet different people. Differences will always exist, but the most important thing above all is humanity," Hafizen explained.

Inggit Larasati (23), one of the participants in the e-commerce training, admitted that she had learned a lot, specifically about the digital business development and ways to create interesting captions to attract prospective customers. “We should use a simple, easy-to-understand, straightforward language so that prospective customers are attracted and understand our products," explained this young woman from Nglinggi Village enthusiastically.
